It’s that time of the year again! Christmas doesn’t feel the same when it isn’t snowing, but how would we know that in sunny Singapore where all we ever get during this period is the monsoon season? The only times that something other than rain that fell on the Singapore sky was when hail occurred during a freak weather accident back in June 2013. (Check out that weird story here) I remember being in the office when that happened and no one believed me when I told them I saw hail coming down from outside the window.
Every year, Tanglin Mall at the start of the Orchard Road strip successfully recreates the magical feeling of snow flakes falling from the sky. They achieve this with their massive snow machines and cannons and put on a show that runs daily during this period. For those of us who hadn’t found the time to make a trip Westwards, this is the closest that we can get to snow in this part of the world. The show is a popular hit with both children and adults alike and runs from 12th November all through to 2nd January 2017.
We’ll definitely be taking the kids there again this year and every Christmas brings different decorations and show performances.
Check out the snow cannons and avalanche that begins at 730pm until 8pm on weekdays with an additional show on weekends and public holidays at 830pm -9pm. The show is located at the entrance of Tanglin mall right where their giant Christmas tree is erected.
Head inside the mall and explore the various restaurant options as well as the food court in the basement if you’re in the mood for something local and light on the wallet. This mall is a must visit for those who are staying in the nearby Hotel Jen.
