Best. Korean. Chicken. Ever.
This write up was long overdue, as its been a few months since we first discovered Oven & Fried Chicken Korean chicken restaurant that opened up in the Bukit Timah neighbourhood.
We’re a huge fan of Korean fried chicken, and we’ve taken a strong liking towards Oven & Fried Chicken (OFC) because in our opinion, it trumps the others out there that either has problems with consistency, or the overall flavours and textures just don’t quite match up to OFC. Its not that the others are bad, it is just that OFC is simply up there in our books.
You get to pick whether you’re going for the full-fat-full-flavour deep fried chicken, or the healthier oven baked chicken. Both are equally crispy and tasty but for obvious reasons, the oven baked varietals are less moist than their deep fried versions. You also get to pick whether you’d prefer your chicken boneless, and then you get to pick if you’d prefer they be coated with sauce or just have them “original”.
Our favourite option is original fried boneless chicken with rice flour, and next up is sauced original mild boneless which comes with just enough spice. Any level above mild is too much for us, even though we’re a fan of chili and hot sauces.
The best part about OFC is that they allow reservations and the timings are usually respected, unlike other joints that make you wait even though you have booked a seat. Take away times are 15-20mins at maximum, even at their busiest. We’ve taken a liking to ordering take-away for convenience, and the chicken stays crispy and moist even after the drive home.
